February Meeting - Fire house 6
Its that time of the year again - CEP meeting time. We met up with the A shift of Newport News Fire house #6.
The firefighters were kind enough to go over important fire and poison prevention tips as well as what to do in case of a fire. After all that we got to tour the station including the sleeping rooms and experience what it looks/sounds like to be woken up. After touring the station we got to check out the trucks and take some pictures.
Looks like we had more Firefighters than au pairs this year :)
They even got the ladder truck out and someone climbed all the way up
to show just how far its up.
And here are the girls with the useful little handouts that the firefighters gave us.

Thanks again station 6 and we will see you again next year. For all pictures of todays meeting click on the February 2009 link on the right hand

January Meeting - Ice skating
not everyone made it on the ice -
It was great there were barely any people besides us there.
The ring will be up for some more time - if you haven't been go check it out it was lots of fun. They have a skate rental and even a company doing catering if you feel like having some hot cocoa.

With everyone busy for the holiday we enjoyed a great dinner at Al Fresco Italian Restaurant in Newport News.
The company was great and the food was too.
We also had a birthday to celebrate - what better to do it with than Chocolate Fondant cake.

Fire safety - February meeting
We met up with the Williamsburg group for our Fire and Poison Safety meeting and were welcomed by the crew of Station 6 in Newport News.
Unfortunately our Question and Answer was cut short as the crew had to leave to attend an emergency call.
We'll see them again next year. Everyone be safe and remember what you learned.

December meeting - annual holiday potluck
We had such a good time and Santa was able to make it too. There was lots of good food and I hope everyone got their fill. Here are some pictures as always click on the link on the right labeled December 2007 for all the pictures of our party. A special thank you to Jim Barnes and Carmen Burrows for making time to attend our party. Jim is our self defense instructor and Carmen is one of the teachers at the au pair program at Thomas Nelson Community College. We also had the Chesapeake LCC Janet there and Elaine from South Africa and her host family who moved from Williamsburg to Chesapeake. Elaine's year is almost up and she is getting ready to leave.
Everyone watching Santa hoping he brought them a gift.

We meet in Williamsburg to participate in the Colonial Williamsburg Ghost tour. We learned about ghost sightings while walking through town. It was a bit chilly but fun otherwise. Anyone spotted any ghosts? I took lots of pictures to see if one was captured on film so click on the November link on the site and see what you find.
